In June 2013, I found my first miniature donkey; a gelding named  Gunston at Old Wives Lake, Saskatchewan. When I first brought him home  I was very protective of him and kept him separated from the horses, but he wanted to be with them so I let him go out into the pasture with  the three horses. Axle really took to Gunston and they became  buddies. 

One night, our beloved horses and donkey got out of the  pasture. Our horse Mac was hit by a speeding truck and killed and the  other three animals went missing. Eventually we found them and  brought them back home, Tosh was injured, Axle and Gunston were alright. We were devastated!

We were slowly adjusting to the loss of our horse when one week to the day, Gunston  was tragically killed in a freak accident on our ranch.  

Missing them today! Love you, Mac and Gunston.

This weekend we are going to work on the fence so that Trinket and Remington can go out in the pasture.
In the evening when I bring Trinket and Remington to their "bedroom" Trinket has been spending a few minutes grazing on "creepy charlie" growing in the corral. Remington and I spend this time cuddling. I think it might be hard to get them to come back in from the pasture for the night.
